Charlotte is a girl from an orphanage. Her parents died when she was two because of a horse carriage accident. Luckily she lived Charlotte enjoyed being with Vern, the horse keeper at the orphanage, than play with dolls. Charlotte liked to be with the horses and race with them. When they forbid for Charlotte to ride horses, she decides to leave he orphanage. Vern helps her get prepared for her journey. They try to make it look like if she drowned in a near by river on the night of her departure.
